<aside> ➡️ ABOUT CLASS : Cultivating a Solo Practice is a class aimed for the pedestrian, the dancer, the person, the chef, the herbalist, the writer, the artist, the outcasts, the freaks, the ones who are at home and thinking : I want to move my body. You could take this class laying on your bed, staying seated, using high energy movements, going in slow motion. You can close your eyes and just listen to whatever music we listen to and do the writing prompts.
This three hour workshop is the first time I am bringing my signature course to the digital sphere. After hosting improvisational dance workshops across the country and a three day site specific workshop in Upstate New York I am thrilled to bring this work to the zoom room.
Guided by ambient sounds we will warm up and find where our body wants to be in space, access whatever we need that day, and move into finding our own movement phrasing and pace.
This class is for those who have no dance experience and those who are seasoned improvisers. Through a series of prompts and scores we will create small dances in our own spaces, crafting beginning middles and ends, using props and furniture to set the stage.
We will end class with a free form dance party to pop music because that is how I like to end a day
